A new tech hub has benefited from the installation of Brett Martin’s Marlon Clickfix RL rooflights, glazed with Marlon Clickfix 1040 polycarbonate.
Spanning 1.2 million square feet, Here East is a new, Stratford-based technological hub, developed to transform London’s creative and digital industries. The development, which was designed by Hawkins Brown, comprises three buildings: the former press and broadcast centres and a large auditorium.
To meet the brief, which prioritised the introduction of natural light, the main contractor was tasked with converting the windowless warehouses into naturally-lit environments.
Brett Martin’s Marlon Clickfix RL rooflights were specified as a solution. 34 units, glazed in clear Marlon Clickfix 1040 polycarbonate, were installed to brighten the cavernous space, which became home to numerous shops and offices.
Offering a thermally-efficient rooflight solution, capable of working at a low 7° pitch, Marlon Clickfix 1040 is a lightweight polycarbonate panel with integral interlocking connections for ease of installation.
With 10 insulating walls, the panel is able to achieve a U-value of 0.99 W/m²K. The system boasts structural strength and impact resistance, in addition to thermal insulation and UV protection.
Brett Martin offers a two thermally broken aluminium glazing bar systems, each suitable for different applications. The Marlon Clickfix RL glazing bar system, which has been used at Here East, is suitable for low pitch rooflights and canopies. whereas the Marlon Clickfix VF is better suited to vertical installations, such as northlights, rain screens, façades and partitioning.
