The prestigious Tile of Spain Awards 2026 for Architecture and Interior Design, organised by ASCER (The Spanish Ceramic Tile Manufacturers’ Association), are now open for entries for their 25th edition.
The awards aim to promote the use of Spanish ceramic wall and floor tiles in architecture and interior design projects, both in Spain and internationally, and have a total prize fund of €35,000.
The competition is open to both national and international architects, interior designers, architectural technologists, landscape architects and decorators of any nationality, entering either individually or as part of a team. Eligible projects must have been completed between January 2024 and October 2026 and must not have been submitted in previous editions of the Awards.
Introduced in the previous edition, the subcategories within both the Architecture and Interior Design awards continue this year, reflecting the breadth and diversity of ceramic solutions available from Tile of Spain manufacturers and encouraging recognition of a wider variety of projects and applications. Subcategories A-a and I-a are for projects using dry-pressed porcelain stoneware, while A-b and I-b are for projects using other ceramic materials, including extruded porcelain stoneware, rustic stoneware, glazed stoneware, wall tiles, mosaics and terracotta.
Over two decades of the Tile of Spain Awards
The 25th edition marks an important milestone for the Tile of Spain Awards. Over more than two decades, the awards have evolved alongside the Spanish ceramic tile industry itself. During this time, both the competition and its entry criteria have developed, while the ambition and diversity of the recognised projects have continued to grow.
Today, eligible projects are required to feature ceramic products manufactured by ASCER member companies, reinforcing the Awards’ role in showcasing the breadth and potential of the Spanish ceramic tile industry.
Across successive editions, the Tile of Spain Awards have recognised an increasingly diverse range of approaches, scales and project typologies in architecture and interior design. This evolution has taken place in parallel with developments in ceramic materials themselves: advances in formats, finishes, technical performance and manufacturing processes have broadened their potential applications and given architects and designers an ever-expanding palette of solutions with which to work.
The prestige of the judging panels has also been a defining feature of the Awards throughout their history. Leading international architects, designers and critics have taken part in successive editions, with previous juries chaired by figures including Eduardo Souto de Moura, Kengo Kuma, Carme Pinós, Eric Parry, Benedetta Tagliabue and Carlos Ferrater, among many other prominent names in architecture and design. The judging panel for the 25th edition is currently being finalized and will continue this tradition, bringing together respected professionals worthy of this milestone anniversary.
The judging panel will assess the entries, with four prizes of €8,000 awarded across the professional categories, together with a €3,000 prize for the Student category (Master’s Thesis Project). The submission deadline is 22 October. Following the closing date, the jury will meet in Castellón to select the winning projects.
